SQN has been appointed by fintech start-up Toucan to provide PR and communications services following a competitive pitch process.
Toucan’s mission to make giving fun, flexible and accessible for all is set to revolutionise the charitable giving space by creating a community of like-minded donors who develop their own bespoke portfolio of charities and causes.
By building a world where giving is second nature, Toucan hopes to increase the number of people in the UK – and eventually worldwide – supporting charities by putting personal passion at the heart of the digital solution.
Toucan’s app offers users the opportunity to create a flexible portfolio, initially with up to three charities, splitting a monthly donation between them. Whether donors wish to support the same organisations over a longer period, or switch each month, is an entirely personal choice.
As charities struggle to recover from the negative impact of the pandemic – and with the UK falling out of the world’s top 20 most generous countries in the world for the first time (source: Charities Aid Foundation’s World Giving Index) – Toucan pledges to help charities of all sizes to raise their profiles and introduce them to thousands of potential new donors.
While cash collections still represent a significant proportion of charity donations, Toucan’s digital solution is ideally suited to younger generations wanting to contribute to societal change but who want to tap or swipe to donate.
Toucan CEO Matt Crate said: “We are thrilled to welcome SQN into the Toucan family as our PR and communications agency. We were blown away by the attention to detail in their presentation, and the fact that they immediately understood our business inside and out. We are very well matched in terms of our cultures, and I am excited by what they can help us to deliver for Toucan as we gear up to reveal our product to the market. Our mobile app modernises the donation experience by creating a digital bridge between younger generations and their causes, resulting in a flexible, fun, transparent and personal experience.”
SQN Managing Director Chris Hughes said: “Toucan is a very exciting new fintech client for SQN, and an ideal culture fit for our agency with societal purpose at the core of the business. We are incredibly grateful to Matt and his team for giving us the chance to join them on their journey and to support their mission to get the UK giving again. As millennials become the largest giving group in the UK – accounting for around 30% of all charitable donations – it’s time to provide a more suitable digital platform that allows them to make the positive impact they desire. Toucan is about transforming charitable giving through tech – and we’re looking forward to helping them fly through PR and communications.”
Toucan has opened a waitlist for donors eager to get started with the app once it launches with sign-ups directly on the website: https://thetoucan.app/
